1. I would still be a bear.
2. The most significant thing I learned this week was the 10,000 hour rule. It is something I never contemplated before and it makes a ton of sense. What impressed me the most about the individuals they discussed was that none of them was "keeping track of time" while they were actively engaged in their passions.
3. Can we integrate technology fast enough in the classroom to keep up with the outside world, that moves at the speed of business, not government? Will this current technology explosion we have been in level off? As far as the products of the industrial revolution are concerned, most are at places where only minor changes are made to them. Will computers eventually reach that point?
4. With the 10,000 hour rule, all of those discussed had opportunities made available to them. I cannot make all my students take the opportunties, but if I see a way that I can further a students learning, I have to make that avialable to them. For me, it means at least 12 years of actively engaged instruction before I would even come close to expert status. That is if I look at it from 5 hours per day, 180 days per year give or take some wasted days (like half days) and sick time.
